Course Overview
Process management is a key method used for improving business performance today. It can form the basis of enterprise transformation, integration within the enterprise and integration across enterprises. It can be the foundation of e-commerce and enterprise performance improvement. One key result of process management is achieving a lean and more flexible enterprise – one that is less expensive and easier to restructure than the existing enterprise.
This distance learning course will help you get started in the right direction with Business Process Management. There are several objectives for this course:
• Understand the BPM challenge today
• Introduce a BPM Framework for guidance
• Learn key business process mapping and modelling techniques
• Learn about the impact of process change on the enterprise
• Learn how to attach measures to processes and what they mean
• Rank processes for best opportunity and lower risk
In this material, the most current process analysis and modelling techniques are explained. It covers the different flows for processes such as document, work, e-commerce and analytic flows. It is not enough to document processes; they must be managed for reuse in different enterprise situations such as benchmarking, best practices and quality. The successful deployment of processes requires assessing the context of the process and its business impact.
Business transformation and the rapidly changing business environment often need a range of solutions, from basic improvements to a complete enterprise transformation. Understanding the needs, beyond basic process analysis and mapping, is the start of the transformation path. During a project you can encounter process types you are not familiar with or large numbers of processes that challenge project schedules. Further, you may deal with reference models from packages, industry and professional groups plus have the need to integrate various process models.
This course provides knowledge of the more recent types of process flows, the technology emerging to implement those flows and the integration and assessment techniques needed for enterprise scale projects. You will also cover related issues such as inference models, reference model analytics, package model analytics and inferred impact. Topics of baselines, benchmarking and best practices are covered where needed.
