This month's Author Spotlight is on:

Steve Lawrence

Steve Lawrence, MSc, FCCA, has been a full time lecturer for over 25 years during which time he has led seminars and training programmes for students and professional audiences in many parts of the world including London, Moscow, Dubai, Jeddah, Beijing, Mauritius, Rome, Madrid and Kuala Lumpur. Before becoming a professional lecturer, Steve worked for 10 years in various accounting positions in commercial and industrial organisations including Pitney Bowes Ltd, Longmans Ltd and Prudential Assurance.

He has a Masters degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has published numerous articles and is the author of textbooks on international accounting and advanced financial accounting.

Steve’s main current interest is in the development of the global use of International Financial Reporting Standards and is involved in this development by training professional accountants for several accountancy bodies including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, the Association of International Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

IIR Middle East has created a new series of practical, written, distance learning courses. Our current courses consist of ten weekly modules, bringing management, professional and personal development self-learning straight to your workplace or home. Supported by access to the authors of the courses they offer a flexible, cost-effective method of personal and staff development without the need for days away from the office, travel expenses and hotel accommodation.

This new, creative and flexible training and development method answers the need for constant knowledge and skills growth of the modern business executive and support personnel. It is ideal for all sizes of organisations, from smaller companies to large international multi-nationals with large departments and staff.

The courses can be used in conjunction with existing public training courses, used singularly or for whole departments and can be an aid and home-work tool for in-company training objectives - in short total flexibility at the right price.

Programmes we have organised thus far include:

  • Human Resource Management in the GCC
  • International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Business Process Management
  • Internal Audit
  • The Effective Executive Secretary
  • Management Development: The People Side of Business

We are currently planning a range of new offerings for 2008.
