Nationalisation on the Cards for HR Summit

Masdar and UAE Federal Authority of HR shed light on nationalisation

Dubai - 19 November 2012: Business leaders in the UAE kicked off the HR Summit and Expo 2012 today with discussions on some of the key priorities in the region, tackling nationalisation and diversity in organisations, both the public and private sectors came together to focus on how nationalisation can foster business growth in the UAE.

Amna Al Suwaidi, expert on HR planning at the UAE Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) discussed the challenges associated with nationalisation in the public sector while outlining the Federal Authority’s vision.

“Our aim at the FAHR is to improve and enhance the capabilities of HR in the Federal Government sector. The summit allows for all government entities to engage in discussions and exchange insights on how we can attract more local talent and overcome some of the challenges we face,” said Al Suwaidi. Al Suwaidi was joined by; Maha Al Mansouri, Associate Director for HR and Emiratisation at Masdar and Jalal Al-Khaled, Chief Human Resources Officer at Abu Dhabi National Insurance. The panel focused on a holistic approach to Nationalisation to build a national worforce that drives business growth. The panel discussed expectations of both nationals and employers, illustrating how both can be aligned. Advice was also dispensed from experts on how a more sustainable vision can achieve nationalisation targets in the region.

The Summit takes place at the Ritz Carlton DIFC, Dubai, from November 19 until the 20, and features the latest strategies, insights and international best practices by the most influential and respected people management leaders and HR practitioners in the industry. Best-selling author and HR guru, Dave Ulrich held an interactive seminar with the region’s HR leaders yesterday on the changing role of HR and how it can play a fundamental role in preparing organisations for the future Tomorrow, Eugene Burke, Chief Science Analytics Officer, SHL People Intelligence Business Results, will present findings on a recent study that places the UAE as one of the top corporate leaders.

“Our Talent Analytics data shows huge untapped leadership potential in the region, especially in Egypt and UAE. This represents an unprecedented opportunity for them to cultivate future leaders in order to strengthen their market position,” said Burke.
